The cycling event Vätternrundan has become increasingly popular over the years and the biking festival has been expanded to include the Tjejvättern, Halvvättern, Vättern GP and Minivättern.
However, Motala is not limited to cycling. It is often the venue of choice for hosting large international events within speedway, bandy, sailing and triathlon. If your sporting ambitions fall short of taking part, you can always enjoy the proceedings in a like-minded crowd of enthusiastic spectators.

Vätternrundan requires 4000 voluntary officials, most of which comes from Motala non-profit organizations. A proud tradition that is handed down from generation to generation.
During an annual week in June, the medium-sized Swedish city is transformed into an international mecca for bikers from all over the world. Between and during the races, a menu of activities and program activities is offered for both riders and spectators.
June 9 - Opening Ceremony & Music, Minivättern, MTBVättern
June 10 - Tjejvättern 100 km
June 11 - Halvvättern 150 km
June 15 - RetroVättern, Vättern GP
June 16-17 - Vätternrundan 300 km
During the bike weeks, much of Motala city center is closed to car traffic in favor of cyclists and public transport. Large free and easily accessible parking areas outside the city center are prepared and offered.
